Daily Devotional for Monday 5th February

Being Good Leaders in God’s Family

Titus 1:1-9

In Titus 1:1-9, the Apostle Paul talks to Titus, a friend and leader in the early church, about what makes a good leader in God's family. Paul starts by saying that he works for God and follows Jesus. This shows us that good leaders should love God and follow Jesus' example.

Paul then shares qualities that leaders should have. He says they should be honest and live in a way that nobody can point fingers at them. It's like being a good example for others to follow. Leaders should also be good family people, showing love and care to their families.

Paul tells Titus that leaders must believe and teach the truth about God. This means they should know what the Bible says and share it with others. In a world where people have different ideas, leaders need to stand firm on what God's Word says.

Being a good leader also means helping others stay close to God. Leaders should encourage and support people in their faith journey. Paul mentions that leaders should be ready to correct those who are going the wrong way, gently helping them get back on track.

This passage is not just for leaders in big roles though! Rather it's a guide for everyone in the church. We should all try to be good examples, love our families, know and share God's truth, and support each other in our faith.

As we read Titus 1:1-9, let's think about how we can be good leaders in our families and communities. Let's pray that God helps us live in a way that honours Him and encourages others to follow Him too.

Time to reflect…

•   How can you be a good example for others by being honest and doing what is right in your family and community, just like our reading talks about today?

•   Think about your friends and family. How can you help them know and follow God's teachings?

•   Titus 1:1-9, it says leaders should gently correct those who might be going the wrong way. How can you gently help your friends or family members when you see them making choices that aren't good for them?

Pause to pray…

Heavenly Father. Thank you for showing us in our reading today what makes a good leader in Your family. Help us to be honest and do what is right, being good examples for others. Guide us in understanding Your teachings so we can share them with our friends and family.

Give us the wisdom to gently help those who might be going the wrong way, just like the passage tells us. Help us to live in a way that honours You in our families and communities. May our lives reflect Your love and truth.

In Jesus' name, we pray.

Amen.
